Getting There
  • Flights: SAA & LAM (Mozambique Airlines) have daily flights between Johannesburg & Maputo , the duration of the flight is one hour. Charter flights daily to Vilanculos from Johannesburg International Airport, the duration of the flight is two hours.There are regular LAM flights to Inhambane,Nampula and Pemba.
  • Road (Where Effective):
Visas
  • Other: It is recommended to arrange visas prior to departure. All other visitors require a visa, on arrival visas can be arranged in Maputo,Vilanculos & Pemba airport or the border post.
  • South African: South African passport holders do not need visas.
Currency
  • Local: The local curreny is the Metical.
  • Other Accepted: SA Rand & US$ is widely accepted except in the north.
  • Credit Card: Are only accepted in a few places.
When To Go
  • Weather: April to November is the best time climatically as the weather is pleasant & December to February is hot and humid.
  • Main Activity

Health Requirements for Mozambique
  • Prophylactics: Malaria is rife, so take the appropriateprophylactics. Drink Bottled water or purified water only.
  • Hospital & Doctors:
Power Supply: 220 volt AC with 2 pin plugs
What to pack: Take care to include light comfortable clothing and protective gear / dress for the tropical sun and rain. Also include insecticides and all personal medication & toliteries. 
Luggage Allowance: 20kg on International flights.Charter flights to the islands 10kg.
